Macadamia Nut Farming Equipment

Airsorter

(Patent Pending 2004208745)

The airsorter sorts good nuts from bad and can distinguish between a dry and wet kernel. As well, it removes all husks, leaves, sticks and other debris as the nuts travel through the processing line.

A brush controls the speed of the nuts as they travel over an air curtain. The good nuts, being heavier, fall through a gap onto an inspection table, while the bad nuts, being lighter, continue on to the reject lane or for a second sort.

The airsorter has a range of advantages over the traditional water sorter. The most sigificant of these are:

The airsorter can be fitted to any existing machinery, usually slotting into the production line between the dehusker and roller inspection conveyor. The standard model is 1.2m high, 1.3m long and 0.8m wide. The height is adjustable. It is constructed out of mild steel, with a durable powdercoated finish and is powered by a 750w fan motor.

The Airsorter range:

  • Immersing nuts in water adds to the cost and time in the sorting process. As well, it has been found that up to 40% of floating nuts are viable, so they are thrown away unnecessarily.
  • The airsorter is fully adjustable, so you can allow for different seasons and nut types.
  • There is a range of models to cater for individual needs and growing conditions:
    • Standard manual adjustable
The gap for the nut sorting is adjustable manually.
    • Standard variable speed
A variable speed device enables fine-tuning of sorting by increasing or decreasing airflow.
    • Waste Auger
A special chute with a small, motorised auger takes excess husk away to the side of your choice.
This can be fitted to either the standard or variable speed models.
